Sedloňov Black Cross |
Sedloňov Black Cross - posted beneath the Sedloňov
Hill gap in a height of 1105m. Originally, wooden cross paint in black
with brazen Crist body in a memory of Austrian Minister of farming Jeronim
count von Mansfeld stand here. At sunset, reflection from brass was seen
as far as to Opočno castle (Mansfeld´s residence). Log hut next to the
cross was used as a refreshment room for workmen building the border fortification
in 1936-38.

Sedloňov Hill - peak of 1005m saddlebow separated
from the main ridge by Bělá creek. Its western slope is covered by floriferous
beech wood between prevailing pine-wood plantations around. On the 99,7ha
reserve area established there in 1954 over 150 herbaceous species are
found. Bunker line of the border fortification trails over the hill (LO
type 37).
Educational path leading along is provided with information
boards. One of them you will find on a crossroads below the Sedloňov Black
Cross, some of the indications there you should take with a grin or pinch
of salt ...
